SAFETY


Like all Nissan vehicles, the new 2007 Nissan TIIDA conforms to our three-tier safety program. This involves an approach to safety which encompasses three different disciplines - Impact Safety, Control Safety and Information Safety.

The Nissan TIIDA’s safety starts with Impact Safety meaning its safety zone body construction and side impact protection are designed specially to absorb impact energy and create a protective shell around the vehicle occupants. Added to this are dual front SRS driver and passenger airbags on all models, plus the additional assurance of front to rear curtain airbags on the ST-L, Q and Ti models.

In terms of Control Safety, TIIDA features standard ABS brakes with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Brake Assist combined with front seatbelt pretensioners for perfect peace of mind.

     
Anti-lock braking system (excludes ST models)

ABS, EBD & BA - The TIIDA has it all. Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) helps the driver retain directional control while braking or turning. It optimises braking performance by sensing wheel lock and sending a signal to the braking system to release the locked wheel.

Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) system senses the load condition – of both passengers and luggage – to optimise rear brake force and control front and rear brake distribution for better braking effectiveness.

Brake Assist can help reduce braking distances by up to 10-15% by sensing the driver's braking speed and stress in hard or panic braking situations. The extra pedal pressure delivers extra stopping power by activating the ABS and EBD more quickly under emergency braking situations.		 Halogen headlights

MECHANICAL



The new 2007 Nissan TIIDA is powered by a new MR18 engine. This all aluminium 1.8 litre, 16 valve, DOHC engine features Nissan's advanced Continuous Valve Timing Control (CVTC) and the Nissan Direct Injection System to deliver a remarkable 93kW @ 5,200 rpm with 174Nm @ 4,800 rpm.

It has fuel efficiency and acceleration aplenty that has been achieved via reduced weight and improved low to mid range engine torque responsiveness. The adoption of Continuous Valve Timing Control (CVTC) also results in better fuel efficiency without sacrificing power.

Extensive use of sound absorption materials, plus thicker side glass and double door seals helps minimise road noise, whilst the adoption of a new pendulum engine mount system suppresses engine vibration and helps reduce noise entering the cabin.

 
 
Engine mounts

The TIIDA features a stunning revolution in engine mounting refered to as the pendulum system. The mountings are situated at the top of the engine on rubber 'grummets' which absorb any road vibration or body roll. The result is a vibration-free ride. 		1.8 litre engine
